Penwern Fach Self-Catering Holiday Cottages are situated about a mile or so from the pretty village of Cenarth which is famous for its fishing and salmon leap waterfalls. Cenarth and the surrounding towns & villages, some deep in secluded little rural valleys others perching on the dramatic coast of Cardigan Bay, West Wales, making it an ideal location for a glorious holiday at any time of the year. Plenty to see and do without the “crush” of more ordinary destinations.
These six self-catering, holiday cottages are set in their own beautiful grounds of 10 acres with glorious views over the Teifi Valley and the Preseli Hills of Pembrokeshire. The cottages are secluded but not remote. On the borders of the three old counties that made up Dyfed, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire & Ceredigion. Only a short drive will take you to the stunning coastal scenery and beaches of Cardigan Bay renowned for its dolphin spotting opportunities. Just 7 miles from the market town of Cardigan (castle restoration worth viewing) and 3 miles from Newcastle Emlyn (lots of independent shops).
Meet our latest arrivals at Penwern Fach who have taken up residence in our newly carved Canadian Pine Tree!
“We booked Cych and Towy together for our Christmas break for 10 people ranging from 21 to 88 yrs old. Yvonne and her family went the extra mile to decorate the cottages beautifully and giving us an extra table to allow all of us to eat together. The bonus of the games room for the younger ones was fab. Both cottages were well appointed. We took along a lot of extra stuff to make life easier but much of it was not required.” December 2023 [Cych & Towy]
Sympathetically converted from traditional Welsh farm buildings and recently updated the cottages are full of charm and country character with all the modern touches you’d expect for the perfect stay! They offer the nostalgic comfort of a bygone age of cosy relaxation, ideal for a family holiday in this enchanting part of West Wales.
WiFi installed in each cottage just in case you don’t want to be too nostalgic!

“Another wonderful visit to Gwaun Cottage. The cottage was renovated and extended a few years ago, making this a perfect couples retreat. Dog friendly and our Border Collie is very relaxed as soon as we arrive. Well located and within easy reach of Cardigan, Poppit Sands and Newcastle Emlyn. Can recommend Poppit Sands as a very big, dog friendly, beach. Can also recommend Priory Cafe in Cardigan and Harrisons Bistro in Newcastle Emlyn which both serve excellent food and are dog friendly. The welcome at the cottage by Yvonne and Howell is always great. They live on site so are convenient if needed but that’s unlikely as everything is provided in the cottages. Will be booking again soon. Highly recommended” February 2024 [Gwaun]
We are only six miles inland from the spectacular coastline of Cardigan Bay with its glorious sandy beaches, cliff-top walks and home of the bottlenose dolphins and grey seals. Fabulous beaches include award-winning Mwnt, Tresaith & Llangrannog but with the Ceredigion coast so close to hand you’ll be spoilt for choice.
It is easy to feel you’ve escaped to another world and is the ideal place to sit back and do nothing!
